Support for Gay Dads at Every Stage

Gay Fathers Worldwide is a peer support group for gay and queer men who have children from previous heterosexual relationships.

It is a space for connection, honesty, and understanding. Whether you are questioning your identity, navigating separation, or living openly as a gay dad, you are not alone.

A Space That Understands Your Journey

Hi, I’m Shaun, a father of four, and I came out later in life after a long heterosexual marriage.

In 2020, I co-founded Gay Fathers Worldwide to create the kind of space I could not find at the time. A space where men could speak openly about fatherhood, identity, and the realities of coming out later in life.

What started as a small group in Melbourne, Australia has grown into a global community. Today, we support gay fathers across Australia and around the world.

Support for Every Stage of Being a Gay Dad

There is no single path to becoming or being a gay father.

Some men are still in relationships with women and trying to understand what they feel. Others are navigating separation, co-parenting, or rebuilding their lives. Many are already out and continuing to grow into new relationships and family structures.

Wherever you are, this space meets you there.

You might be:

  • questioning your identity while still married

  • navigating separation or divorce

  • working through relationships with your children

  • building a new life as an openly gay dad

Each stage comes with its own challenges. Being able to speak with others who truly understand can make a real difference. We recommend reading our article, How to Navigate Separation as a Gay Father: Step-by-Step Support, which offers practical advice and emotional guidance tailored to many stages of your journey.

Connection That Goes Beyond the Surface

Gay Fathers Worldwide is more than a Facebook group.

It is a community built on shared experience, respect, and support. Men come together to talk honestly about what they are carrying, often for the first time.

We offer:

  • a private and confidential online group

  • regular Zoom conversations for deeper connection

  • opportunities to connect with other gay dads globally

These conversations are real, grounded, and often deeply relieving.

Many men arrive feeling isolated. They begin to realise they're not the only ones.

A Place to Feel Accepted

Coming out later in life can bring uncertainty, grief, relief, and everything in between. Adding fatherhood into that experience can feel overwhelming.

This community offers something simple but powerful.
A place where you do not have to explain yourself.

You can take your time.
You can speak when you are ready.
You can just listen if that is where you are.

Over time, many men find a sense of steadiness, clarity, and connection that was missing before.

You Are Not the Only One

If you have been trying to work these issues out on your own, this is a place to begin.

Gay Fathers Worldwide exists so that no man has to navigate this journey alone.

Whether you are at the beginning or further along, there is space for you here.
